Life experiences of the creator of Eremito:

Marcello Murzilli, in the Eighties, establishes the clothes brand “El Charro”. Later he sails around the world in a re-conditioned 1937 scottish cutter. He then settles on the Pacific coast of Mexico where he builds and runs Hotelito Desconocido for 14 years. The hotel was recognized in London as one of the top five Eco resorts in the world. Returns to Italy and in 2013 opens Eremito. A new concept in luxury tourism for Solo Traveller. Eremito is one of the first “Digital Detox” hotels in Italy.

Eremito is a contemporary hermitage dated back to the early fourteenth century. Restored using eco-friendly systems in the process, it still preserves its original structure. This isolated lay monastery is majestically located within spectacular Umbrian valleys. Peace and quietness are essential ingredients. The combination of nature, peace, and silence encourages being in touch with one’s soul and inner self. Here you can breathe the sense of spirituality and experience a journey of self-discovery taking care of your body and soul. A spectacular location for enchanting your eyes.

Accommodation

The so called “Celluzze” are as the cells used by the hermits in past times who in their small and simple spaces were able to find time for meditation and prayer. Eremito has rooms with a wrought iron bed, a shower and toilet.

The temperature in the rooms is always constant without a need for air-condition, there is also under floor heating for the colder months.

We have taken care on the details of the rooms: the bedding is made of hand-made hemp yarn.

Although the basic comforts are in the room, you will not find a telephone, TV nor wi-fi connection. Instead you will find a comfortable desk made of stone by the window where one can be inspired while admiring the green valley.

Dining

In our garden we grow vegetables and herbs, all organic. All the food prepared in our kitchen is genuine and of high quality.

Dinner is served observing silence.

The style of our dwelling reflects itself also for the meals, our menu is simple and basic.

We offer a healthy and moderate diet, one which chooses recipes from monastic Mediterranean tradition. Tastes and smells which remind one of Umbrian traditions and small villages built near-by monasteries.

The cuisine of Eremito is vegetarian with a fixed menu. A lot of fresh vegetables and fruits are served, all in season; bread and pasta are home made as are jams and cakes.

In the winter months all the meals are served in our Refectory where a large stone fireplace stands. In the summer and warm spring days we use space outside surrounded by trees and fabulous views of the woods.

Eremito is the ideal place for those who realise that peace and quiet are essential ingredients to find inner peace. It’s a mystical place, fruit of a long journey of self discovery.

The essence of relaxation. You can find an equilibrium here for body and mind, with a background of soft Gregorian chants…a space to unwind.

You will enjoy every moment dedicated to relax, abandon yourself to the pleasures of it

The relax area, next to the Yoga room, is very evocative. It is entirely dug out from rock, here you can lay back and distance yourself from life’s stress taking a steam bath and also using a whirlpool tub.

You can drink our natural teas and especially our “Melemito”, a hot and sweet drink. You will enjoy every moment dedicated to relax: abandon yourself to the pleasures of it.
